The exercises within this book address alphabetical order, initial letter sounds and, where appropriate, medial and final letter sounds.
Alphabetical Order
A significant part of this book addresses alphabetical order. The knowledge and ability to use of alphabetical order is an important skill, especially for pupils with a learning difficulty who will probably need to use a dictionary more often than other pupils.
Upper and Lower Case Letters
The use of upper and lower case letters for teaching alphabetical order is widely considered to be more effective. However, there are those who consider it better to use lower case letters as these are the more commonly used. The alphabetical order activities are provided using both forms of letters so that the teacher / parent can choose either form or use both.
